'Later, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told reporters,' Most of the police stations in Dhaka are rented houses. The police are having a hard time staying in a rented house. As per the rules, I asked the DC to take it in a permanent condition, whether the land can be acquired and given somewhere in Kalabagan. DC knowingly, in consultation with the people's representatives, allotted us this place. The police paid the price. Later, DC handed over the land. Asaduzzaman Khan said about the Tentultala ground, the children used to play because there was space. Now everyone is talking about this place. "We are clear, we need space," he said. There is also a need for a police station building in Kalabagan. With that in mind, we are saying that if a good place is arranged for us by the mayor or someone else, then we will consider it. This is a special place for our police station, it has been arranged by the government. That will be decided later. We are saying, we are not going to its construction right now. Find yours, we'll see. If you can offer better than this, we will definitely see. ' Asked by reporters, the minister said, "It is for the field, he said, it is 20 per cent land. Not too big land. There will be two fields for playing football and tennis, nothing like that. Very small place. Thin and vertical. But not a very good place. They made an appeal, we'll see. Since I have given the money, I will see what will happen to it. '
"I understand the public sentiment," he said. I say, we need a police station. The public must be given security. That must be understood by the public. If we don't protect them, public sentiment will turn against us. "
Asked whether the protesters' demands were justified, the home minister said, "It is the property of the police. The open space on the opposite side of the alley on the capital's Panthapath is known as the Tentultala field. Local children play there. Besides, various social programs including Eid prayers and janaza are held in the field. Initiatives have been taken to construct a permanent building of Kalabagan police station in this field. Syeda Ratna, a resident of the area, and her college-going son were arrested and detained at the police station for about 13 hours and released at midnight on Sunday. In addition to protesting the incident, people from different walks of life, including human rights activists, have raised their voices demanding an end to the construction of police station buildings in the children's playground.
