Dixar Plus
Description: dixar Plus is a combination of dextromethorphan hydrobromide, phenylephrine hydroclorride and triprolidine hydroclorride. dextromethorphan is a safe, effective, non narcotic antitussive agent whice has central action on the cough center in the medullar. Although structurally related to morphine it has no analgesic and habit forming properties and in general it has little sedative activity. phenylephrine is a selective a1- adrenergic receptor agonist of the phenethylamine class used primarily as a decongestant. Triprolidine is an antihistamine which acts as a histamine H1- receptor antagonist. Triprolidine belongs to the group of alkylamines ( propylamine ) an has minimal anticholinergic effect.
Indication:
Dixar Plus is indicated for symptomatic relif of following conditions:
•Unproductive cough
•Rhinorrhea
•Nasal Stuffiness
Dosage and Administration:
Adults and children 12 years age and older 1 teaspoonful every 4 hours, not to exceed 4 teaspoonful in 24 hours or as directed by the physician.
Children 6 to under 12 years of age 0.5 teaspoonful every 4 hours, not to exceed 2 teaspoonful in 24 hours or as directed by the physician.
Children Under 6 years of age consult with the physician.
Warning and interaction:
Caution has to be take in patient with severe hepatic or renal insufficiency. It also causes drowsiness ,so patient should be advised not to drive or operate machinery. This combination should not be used asthma, emphysema chronic cough and inflammation of air passages unless directed by a physician.
